Hero Scots shopkeeper disarmed gunman and told him to 'sit down' during attempted robbery

shopkeeper has told how his only worry was breaking his glasses as he pounced on a robber who was holding a gun to his face.

Keiran Pearson, 28, was today jailed for five years and four months after he fled empty-handed when Zaheer Babar disarmed him, before instructing him to put his hands up and leave.

The dad-of-two was writing a stock list at his Spar store on Townhill Road in Dunfermline, Fife, when would-be armed thief Pearson entered the shop at around 7.25am on August 15.

When the thug disappeared out of sight, Zaheer went looking for him round the back of the shop.The 49-year-old told the Record: "The guy was standing at the bus stop with blue overalls on."He came into the shop and asked the lady at the till what time the bus was.
