Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault. The disgraced movie producer was previously found guilty of two of the five charges he faced at his New York trial last month.

Judge James Burke has now imposed 20 years in prison for a first-degree criminal sex act and three years for third-degree rape, which will run consecutively.

Weinstein arrived in court in a wheelchair to receive his sentence. His lawyers have said that they will appeal his convictions.

The 67-year-old had previously been acquitted of a further three charges, including two counts of predatory sexual assault and an alternative count of rape in the first degree.
