A gunman has shot three people dead at a quarry after breaking into a work meeting. The attacker opened fire with an automatic pistol at the Roy Quarries in Deux-Sevres, central France, around 3pm local time during a meeting of the social and economic council.
Thought to be a quarry employee, he is now in hospital fighting for his life, French media reports. More than 20 police officers were dispatched to the scene, along with soldiers.
Nine people are thought to have been present at the meeting. The motivations of the attacker currently remain unclear, but reports have suggested it may be down to "a professional dispute".
