A man has been killed by a police officer who had his body camera off during the ordeal which occurred during protests in the US.
David McAtee, 53, a black restaurant owner was fatally shot by law enforcement officers yesterday – the incident is currently under investigation.
He was shot dead in Louisville, Kentucky, and his death was announced by Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer at a press conference.
Mayor Fischer said: "This type of institutional failure will not be tolerated. Accordingly, I have relieved Steve Conrad of his duties as chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department." The investigation into the shooting will look at why the officer's body camera was not activated at the time.
