A great-grandmother who handed out face masks at a hospital's front door has died after contracting coronavirus. Tributes are being paid to NHS worker Val Stimson, who was praised for going "above and beyond" in her role as a receptionist at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

The 62-year old from Birchington died on Tuesday, just a week after testing positive for coronavirus. Ms Stimson, who is survived by two daughters, Tina and Kelly, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, had been helping with traffic management for the Covid-19 team and handing out masks on the front door during the pandemic.
