Heartbreak as hospital worker, 37, dies of Covid leaving behind three-year-old son

Heartbroken colleagues have paid emotional tributes to a hospital worker who died after contracting Covid-19 aged just 37. Fatima Sonawar, who had a three-year-old son, has been branded "a joy to work with", with a devastated friend saying the world "is a bit darker" without her smile.

She worked in the endoscopy department at the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for seven years. Former colleagues have voiced their shock at her death, and are raising money to support her son Aidan.

Friend Shameer Mehta wrote: "The world is now a bit darker without Fatima’s smile. "A truly genuine person whose positive energy would lift the mood of any room, she will be hugely missed. "Dear Aidan – your mother was special." Colleagues
