Beloved movie star and music icon dies at home after career that spanned the ages
ok.co.ukCountry music star and award-winning actor Kris Kristofferson has sadly passed away at the age of 88. Kris was known for appearing opposite Barbra Streisand in the 1976 film A Star Is Born as the male lead and for songs such as Me and Bobby McGee and For the Good Times.
The star passed away 'peacefully' in his home in Maui, Hawaii, a representative confirmed to US outlet People, alongside a statement from his family.
It read: "It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28 at home.
We're all so blessed for our time with him. They added: "Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he's smiling down at us all." Kris leaves behind his wife of over 40 years, Lisa Meyers, and his eight children; daughter Kelly Marie and sons Jesse, Jody, Johnny and Blake, who he shared with Lisa, daughter Casey, from his marriage to Rita Coolidge and daughter Tracy and son Kris Jr.
