Official guidance has been updated to advise against all but essential travel in Bolton, Bedford, Blackburn and Darwen, Burnley, Kirklees, Leicester, Hounslow, and North Tyneside, where the variant is growing fastest.

The information appears to have been amended last Friday at 5.26pm without an official announcement and Layla Moran, who chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Coronavirus, said this risked causing “confusion and uncertainty”.
