GMP officer charged with alleged misuse of force's IT systems

A GMP officer has been charged with alleged misuse of the force's IT systems. Police Sergeant Richard Proctor, 40, who is based within GMPs City of Manchester division, will appear in court next month.

In a statement GMP said he had been charged with: one count of enabling unauthorised access to a computer program/data; one count of obtaining/disclosing personal data; and one count of knowingly or recklessly obtaining or disclosing personal data without consent of the controller.

The statement added: "He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on 15th September 2022. GMPs Professional Standards Branch will recommence misconduct proceedings on conclusion of the criminal investigation." Read more of today's top stories here READ NEXT:
