Girls Aloud's Kimberley and Nicola reflect on 'magical' Sarah Harding tribute event

Girls Aloud stars Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts have said their grief is still "raw" almost a year after the death of their bandmate Sarah Harding.Sarah passed away in September 2021 at the age of 39 after battling breast cancer.Her bandmates Kimberley, Nicola, Cheryl and Nadine Coyle are getting together this weekend to take part in Race For Life in her memory and predict it will be "magical".READ MORE: The Masked Singer's Nicola Roberts says therapy was 'best gift' after stalker ordealOpening up on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio show, Nicola said Sarah's death was "still such a shock"."You kind of go back to when it was the five of us and never in your wildest nightmares could you ever have imagined that it would have gone this way," she said."My sadness is for her.

My sadness is the fact that she doesn't get to be here, that's where my sadness is."Kimberley said the grief was a "daily challenge"."It's crazy to me think that it's almost been a year," she said.She added that the loss hit her at times she didn't necessarily expect it, like when she hears a certain song or sees a certain plate of food."It feels like it's still so raw to us," she said.The band will come together at the weekend for Race For Life, after deciding it felt like the right thing to do in honour of their late bandmate.They will all be running in London except for Kimberley, who will be taking part elsewhere as she is away.She said: "We spoke to Sarah a lot in those last few months, as much as we couldn't bear to have these conversations, we had to because we felt so helpless and we were like, 'What do you want, what can we do?' and this was her wish.
