Jose Mourinho has ruled out Gareth Bale replacing Harry Kane as the focal point of Tottenham ’s attack. The Spurs boss is facing a stint without his leading marksman after the England captain picked up an ankle injury in Thursday night’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Kane was substituted at half-time with the ankle issues picked up in the first half after a couple of challenges. Speaking post-game, Mourinho indicated that he expects to be without Kane for “a few weeks” although there are worries he could be out until March.
Carlos Vinicius has deputised for Kane in cup competitions when he has been rested this season and the on-loan Benfica man looks the natural fit to replace him while he’s on the sidelines.
