Gareth Bale needs to protect himself and challenge Jose Mourinho over his lack of game time at Tottenham, according to Graeme Souness.
Spurs brought the Real Madrid star home at great expense in the summer transfer window, amid huge fanfare, but Bale has been a peripheral figure under Mourinho.
Bale has made only six starts for Spurs this campaign, including against Brighton on Sunday night, in the absence of Harry Kane.
And Souness has questioned the Wales international's desire to play, saying Bale should be banging Mourinho's door down to feature every week.
