Newcastle's prospective new owners have reportedly made enquiries about Napoli attacker Dries Mertens and Brugge striker Emmanuel Dennis as they look to strengthen Steve Bruce's squad.
Brugge have already accepted they will lose their star man and the striker is weighing up his options before making a decision.
A fee of around £20m is what has been suggested Brugge believe is a realistic price tag. Newcastle will face competition in the form of Sheffield United but the club's future owners are confident they can blow the Blades out of the water.
Napoli have beaten off various offers to keep Mertens on their books, as the player allegedly wants to become the club's highest goalscorer ever.
