Frank Lampard has been in contact with Dries Mertens to let the Napoli ace know he is the first name on Chelsea’s transfer wishlist, according to reports in Italy.
The Blues were heavily linked with a move for Mertens back in January, but in the end a deal failed to materialise. Lampard remains on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, nevertheless, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Olivier Giroud is set to leave Stamford Bridge upon the expiry of his contract, while Michy Batshuayi is also unlikely to remain in west London beyond the end of the season.
And according to Naples newspaper Il Mattino, Lampard recently got in touch with Mertens to let the Belgian know he wants to sign him this summer.
