Mauricio Pochettino is edging closer to being named Newcastle manager, according to reports. The former Tottenham boss has been installed as favourite to replace Steve Bruce for weeks should a takeover of the club is confirmed.
The Magpies are the subject of a £300million bid backed by Saudi's Public Investment Fund, which is understood to be close to completion.
Pochettino was sacked by Spurs last November after five-and-a-half successful years at the north London club. In his final full season in charge he helped them reach the Champions League final but things soon turned a little sour and results dipped.
