The Full Monty are reuniting to take their clothes off again in a new spin off TV series.Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy and Hugo Speer are coming back for some more striptease antics 25 years after the original. The award winning film centred on a group of unemployed former steelworkers in Sheffield who get together to try to make money by becoming a Chippendale-style act.Now a new eight-part sequel for telly is being made by Disney +.Bosses say the TV show will catch up with our favourite characters from the 1997 flick as they “navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors”.But they promise plenty of laughs and silliness along the way and tease that the stripper gang may need to come back together again to “triumph over adversity”.The cast will feature some familiar faces reprising their old characters including Robert Carlyle (Gaz), Mark Addy (Dave), Lesley Sharp (Jean), Hugo Speer (Guy), Paul Barber (Horse), Steve Huison (Lomper), Wim Snape (Nathan) and Tom Wilkinson (Gerald). The new TV version will also introduce a whole new cast of children and grandchildren of the returning characters.Writer and creator Simon Beaufoy commented: “We’re chuffed to bits to get all the Monty Men back together again – now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on – to see what life in Sheffield is like twenty-five years on.”And Disney content chief Lee Mason added: “Twenty-five years ago Simon introduced us to a group of funny, fearless and resilient unemployed working-class men from Sheffield and the world fell in love with them.“We’re delighted to reunite the original cast for this brand-new series on Disney+ to catch up with these.
