Police Scotland, who believed he was one of Europe’s most wanted fugitives, has died. Guy Joao, 71, passed away in hospital near Paris after a long illness.
The force had arrested Guy in 2019 as he flew from France into Scotland, where he split his time with his Scots wife Mhari at their second home in Dunoon.
Officers at Glasgow Airport wrongly believed the former Renault factory worker was actually aristocratic serial killer Xavier Dupont de Ligonnes, who was dubbed the French Lord Lucan.
