He said: “Businesses in Hamilton are struggling financially and as we emerge from the pandemic, it is important that our local economy is supported back to its feet. “Late last year the council commissioned consultants to assess the parking regime in Hamilton and make recommendations on how it could improve footfall.“We should not simply reintroduce our old parking system without first examining their findings and recommendations.“And whilst I accept that free parking will not fix all of Hamilton’s problems, charges can often be seen as a barrier to people visiting the town.“So, let’s take advantage of this free period, shop local, help rebuild our business community and put the heart back into Hamilton.”Hamilton West and Earnock’s Liberal.
