Frank Lampard dealt another cold snub to Dele Alli as Everton succumbed to a late defeat at Burnley to put their Premier League status under threat.Alli was left as an unused substitute as the Toffees threw away a 2-1 lead in their relegation six-pointer against Burnley, eventually going down 3-2 at Turf Moor.
And it was the latest example of showing his dramatic decline over the past two years. The 25-year-old was signed by Lampard on transfer deadline day after being allowed to terminate his contract at Spurs.
His complex move to Goodison Park — a free transfer structured on appearances and bonuses that could rise to £40million — was expected to give the midfielder a fresh start after seven years in north London. But the former England international's move has not gone to plan and he is yet to make a single start in the Premier League, with his five appearances all coming from the bench.
Worse yet, Everton have also lost all of the last four matches he has played in by an aggregate scoreline of 9-0.Alli had already been struggling to rediscover his best form at Spurs after a series of muscle injuries, scoring only one goal across his last two seasons at the club when he hit 18 in the 2016-17 campaign alone.
