Bolton Council has planned a series of improvements in the area but it will take around four months for work to be completed.
The proposals follow years of congestion and delays caused by drivers picking up and dropping off on the Trinity Street bridge beside the station.
To combat this, the unused bus shelters on Newport Street will be demolished and a new drop off area will be installed. The current taxi rank is also set to be remodelled to reduce delays and a cycle lane will be added to link Bolton Interchange with newly completed lanes at the Trinity Street junction.
