The second nomination for the Paisley Daily Express St Mirren player of the year is top goalscorer Jon Obika. Yesterday we revealed star shot-stopper Vaclav Hladky was the first player up for the gong, with manager Jim Goodwin and former Saints striker Steven Thompson giving their view on the Czech keeper’s superb season.
Now they’ve turned their attention to former Tottenham Hotspur forward Obika, who ended his maiden season with the Buddies with an impressive 12-goal haul.
After a slow start in the stripes fan favourite Obika opened his account in October with a stunning bicycle kick against St Johnstone, helping to set up an important 2-0 win.
