The family of an 89-year-old left homeless after a gas explosion ripped through her home is appealing for help to furnish a new flat for Christmas.

Barbara Bennie was one of 18 decanted from their homes and left with nothing when the blast tore apart the block of flats on Main Street in East Kilbride Village in May.

Seven months on Barbara has finally been rehomed but was recently admitted to hospital after falling in her granddaughter's flat, where she had been living since the explosion.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
