More than 12 million Brits have experienced parcel theft at least once in the last year. In response, security retailers Safe.co.uk have published a guide on how to avoid package theft, as more workers are returning to the office, leaving their homes unguarded.
Anthony Neary, managing director for Safe.co.uk, said: “A staggering amount of parcels are being stolen, and with a spike in online consumerism it will only continue unless people act now."He continued: "We hope our simple tips will encourage anyone that orders something online to take caution and time to consider how busy delivery workers are, and in turn, reduce the millions of disappointed people that are losing their parcels." This parcel influx is also impacting postal workers, with busier work times than pre-pandemic - and problems like customers not being home during their picked delivery slot.
A combination of the increase in deliveries and families not being in is resulting in parcels being left in gardens and porches, which are easily accessible to burglars.
