Former Premier League referee Jeff Winter thinks that Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side were arrogant - and believed they had the right to bully officials.
Winter refereed in the Premier League for nearly a decade between 1995 and 2004 and recalled a particular game against Ipswich where he was forced to book three Old Trafford heroes for dissent after they protested a decision he made.
Recalling the game in his autobiography, The B****** In The Black, Winter said: "United were under the cosh as the crowd got behind Ipswich, and they didn’t like it one bit. "I booked Jaap Stam for a foul, as well as David Beckham, Dwight Yorke and Gary Neville - all for dissent. "Cautioning Beckham almost got me into trouble.
