Manchester United achieved something that no side in Premier League history has done before on Thursday night. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side saw off relegation-threatened Aston Villa 3-0 at Villa Park to move within a point of the top four, and in doing so they set a goalscoring record that not even Sir Alex Ferguson's great teams of the past could manage.
United's victory was a fourth successive win by three or more goals, making Solskjaer's vintage the first side in the Premier League era to go on such a run of convincing victories.
Indeed, the Red Devils have won all of their last four games by a three-goal margin, beating Sheffield United, Brighton and now Villa 3-0, as well as Bournemouth 5-2 last Saturday.
