David Metcalfe (portrayed by Matthew Wolfenden) has encountered a series of issues in the Dales. As ITV viewers may remember, his business was severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, leading him to do whatever he could to avoid bankruptcy.
But just as he tried to keep his finances afloat, he endangered several other villagers - including his own partner, Victoria Sugden.
Victoria, whom he framed for a crime he actually committed, ended their relationship as a result, leaving David devastated.
