Determined Dumfriesshire parents, Jenny and Nigel Pike, are calling for donations to help the Eden Valley Hospice in memory of their late daughter, Anna.
The teacher, who was originally from Dumfries and brought up in Langholm and then Canonbie – where her parents still live – taught at Petteril Bank Primary School in Carlisle until she fell ill with an extremely rare form of cancer and died, aged 39.
She was cared for at the hospice – which serves Carlisle and Dumfries and Galloway – during the final months of her life in 2018.
It costs the hospice more than £4 million a year to provide services to patients and their families, with only around 20 per cent of that coming from the NHS, and the couple, family and friends, are doing what they can to raise funds in Anna’s memory.
