A dog owner flouting coronavirus lockdown rules has been arrested after he allegedly killed his pet dog by tying it to the back of a car.

Animal Rescue Centre Owner Yolanda Reyes Hernández rushed to the dog's aid after neighbours of the man - named and shamed only as Carlos - called her for help.

Ms Hernández said she found the dog dead in the road after it had been tied to the tow bar on the back of the car. The poor animal was allegedly forced to run behind the car before it stumbled, fell, and dragged along dead after being strangled by the lead.

Eye-witnesses said neighbours stopped the car in its tracks, took the keys from its ignition and called animal rescuer Hernández.
