A cruel dog owner has been jailed after he let his flea-infested German Shepherd starve to death in his faeces-littered home.

Micheal Warren, 35, appeared in court after inspectors found the dying dog and one other, who was left with severe muscle wastage in conditions described as “appalling” by the prosecutor.

Prosecutor Stewart Haywood told Teesside Crown Court that the other dog, named Panther, had been starved "to the point of emaciation".
