Denise Van Outen has said the cast of Broadway show Chicago were "frosty" with her because of her lads' mag past. The actress, 47, played Roxie Hart in the West End production of the show in 2001 and was a huge hit with viewers. So the following year she made the move across the pond to reprise the role on The Great White Way, which she says was a very big deal. However, people working on the show were not that welcoming when Denise first arrived because when you Googled her, her time as a pin-up for men's magazines was what came up.Speaking on Steph's Packed Lunch, Denise said: "If you Googled me at that time, even though I had previously done a lot of theatre when I was a kid so I was fully qualified to play the role, if you looked online all you would see was lads' mags shoots, pictures of me presenting, so the whole cast were a bit frosty with me."Thankfully, she turned things around when she racked up "amazing reviews" on opening night."After that they were all lovely to me," Denise said."I had to prove myself.
I really did have to prove myself."Denise, who has an 11-year-old daughter named Betsy, has previously said that she has no regrets about the saucy snaps she took back in the 90s.The star told The Sun last year: "I look back at them fondly, I have no regrets about the shoots.
They were fun to do."It was very fashionable at the time and I enjoyed all of it. I never felt uncomfortable."Denise said that she was "quite selective" when it came to what she would do anyway.
