Yesterday, film fans around the world were sad to learn that health concerns were preventing the legendary filmmaker David Lynch from pursuing a new film or TV project.

Effectively, if you believed what he was saying, he was forced into retirement. Well, shortly after that, Lynch took to social media to deny he was actually retiring.

In a post on Twitter, David Lynch shared a statement that confirmed that his health issues are very real—a consequence to his cigarette smoking—but he isn’t retiring.
