A leading weather forecaster has predicted the UK could bask in two heatwaves this month. Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden warned a "major area of high pressure and rising temperatures" is expected to move across the country starting today (Wednesday, September 4).This will see temperatures rise on Friday (September 6), when Madden anticipates we might see "temperatures in the mid to high-20Cs developing across some large swathes of the country".

Advanced weather modelling maps are also reflecting the prediction. They show temperatures could hit the mid-to-high-20Cs in eastern, central and north-western regions by Friday afternoon.

Madden says this will continue "for at least several days and up to the mid part of next week." He added temperatures "in excess of 30C or higher" cannot be ruled out during this period.

He also thinks temperatures could surge again later in the month. This is due to "another major and moderate to high confidence pressure build" coming "in and around September 18".
