David Robert Joseph Beckham OBE (born 2 May 1975) is an English former professional footballer, the current president of Inter Miami CF and co-owner of Salford City. He played for Manchester United, Preston North End, Real Madrid, Milan, LA Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain and the England national team, for which he held the appearance record for an outfield player until 2016. He is the first English player to win league titles in four countries: England, Spain, the United States and France. He retired in May 2013 after a 20-year career, during which he won 19 major trophies.

David Beckham has refused to rule out the prospect of luring Lionel Messi to the MLS in the future.Messi left Barcelona last summer in dramatic circumstances after PSG took advantage of Barca's financial woes to swoop for the Argentine superstar.However, Messi has endured a fairly rotten time in Spain - and there is speculation that he could be set for a spell in America before he brings the curtain down on his illustrious career.Beckham's new MLS franchise have been linked with a move for the 34-year-old.And Beckham has done nothing to quash the noise surrounding Messi and Miami.

Beckham told the Miami Herald: 'I've always said I want the best players in our club and playing in our shirt because there's a certain expectation. "Unfortunately, sometimes it can be a bad thing.

But most of the time it's a good thing. When I first started this project, people were saying 'This guy is coming, that guy is coming, [Cristiano] Ronaldo is coming, Messi's coming."At the end of the day, we need to win, whether it's with the young kids or stars.
