Rangers chairman Malcolm Murray in his bid to voted onto the Club 1872 board due to his association with Charles Green regime.
Murray is one of three candidates standing for office in the supporters group with polls opening on June 10 for members to register their votes.
Club 1872 have agreed a £13million deal with former chairman King that will see them purchase his major shareholding in RIFC plc.
But the South Africa-based businessmen who rescued the club admitted he is surprised Murray is a credible candidate as he challenges George Hoggan and James Irvine for a place on the board.The fan ownership model currently hold a 5.10 per cent stake in RIFC plc and the new directors will work alongside Laura Fawkes, Euan MacFarlane and Joanne.
