Already well into the twilight years of his career, Ronaldo, 37, is desperate to secure an exit from Old Trafford this summer to continue making his mark in the Champions League.
And it's that desire which has seen him turn down an eye-watering deal in the Middle East with one Saudi Arabian club offering a £2.24million-a-week contract.Quadrupling his current terms at Man Utd, the Saudi outfit had hoped a lucrative offer would sway his mind but the Portuguese icon is motivated to challenge himself against Europe's most elite for the 20th consecutive season.READ MORE: World Cup of Pundits: Vote for ultimate footy expert as Roy Keane aims to defend title The unnamed club were also willing to stump up a £25m transfer fee, doubling the £12.5m United forked out to bring him back to Old Trafford last summer.
Though, despite the failed pursuit, Ronaldo will not be linking up with his team-mates for their final pre-season matches in Australia and continues to remain at home for "family reasons".Super-agent Jorge Mendes is working round the clock to secure Ronaldo's next club but a move to a Champions League outfit is looking less and less likely.
