Councillors got a heavy weapons training session as they showed their support for the armed forces. The authority's chief executive, Sara Todd, armed forces champion Coun Judith Lloyd and Mayor Coun Robert Chilton joined armed reservists at 207 Field Hospital medical reservist unit in Trafford to re-sign the Armed Forces Covenant.
The covenant sets out the commitments made to support those people who commit their lives to protecting us. Those commitments include giving ten additional paid days leave to reservists, a guaranteed interview scheme for veterans, and support for Armed Forces Day and other various commemorations throughout the year.
