A heartbreaking picture shows an elderly man staring at his shopping list surrounded by Sainsbury's shelves emptied by coronavirus panic buying.

The tragic photo, taken in Epsom, Surrey, has been shared in a bid to prevent the public from stockpiling and endangering the elderly.

Lauren Taylor, 34, took the snap and said multiples aisles on the supermarket had limited supply. She explained: “It was awful and just really sad.

That was only one aisle and the others were in a similar state of empty shelves. "People were grabbing lots of the stuff that were still on the shelves. "It's really just sad and disappointing in society that it's got to this point. "Everyone needs stuff, but he had been left with nothing." After taking the photograph,
