A fresh decision on schools amid the coronavirus pandemic is "imminent", Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said. The PM's announcement was followed almost immediately by Wales and Scotland confirming their schools will shut from Friday.
It comes after the Tory leader hinted some schools could be shut imminently - as soon as this week - but others may remain open in a press conference last night.
So far, the government has said the best action is to keep schools open because of the effect when NHS staff have to stay home to look after their children.
