Jan Vertonghen has asserted that those who are not obeying coronavirus protection measures should be fined and the money given to the NHS.

The Tottenham Hotspur centre-back took to Twitter to air his frustration that there are people who are not social distancing and therefore could be aiding the spread of COVID-19.

The 32-year-old said: “Should fine big time for everyone who’s not respecting the protection measures and give the money back to NHS, doctors, nurses, key workers etc…#SocialDistancing." The Belgian would usually be playing on the weekend, but the suspending of all professional football in England until the end of April means that he had the chance to urge his followers to adhere to government guidelines on Sunday morning.
