The coronavirus crisis in the UK will 'get worse over the next couple of weeks' before cases then start to decrease, according to the Government's chief scientific adviser.
Sir Patrick Vallance said today that the number of coronavirus cases will grow for up to three weeks 'because there's a lag phase'.
After that point, he expects cases to begin to stagnate before the UK experiences a decrease. At a press conference delivered alongside Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and Public Health England's medical director Dr Yvonne Doyle, the chief scientific adviser said at the moment, data does not suggest that the UK is experiencing an acceleration of cases.
