Coronation Street star Colson Smith has signed up to his next fitness mission as he joins ITV's The Games. The 23-year-old soap star - who recently lost 10 stone in weight after overhauling his life style in lockdown - joins TOWIE's Mark Wright in the fierce competition.

After switching up his fitness regime and shredding the pounds, the star, who has played Craig Tinker on the Cobbles for a decade now, is ready to take on another challenge.According to sources, Colson is more than ready for the sprinting games as his significant transformation had been achieved through regular running. The insider explained that the Corrie star will be hoping to use the programme to help keep the momentum going for his personal journey.

They told The Sun: "Colson has worked so hard to get fit so when he was approached by The Games he couldn't turn them down."He used running to lose ten stone in weight and now loves keeping fit."By taking part in The Games Colson will be able to push himself to the limit and try out different challenges."It has also been reported that former Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Christine McGuinness could also be in the running to compete with Mark and Colson.

The show, which should have aired alongside the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has faced set-backs due to the on-going pandemic - like many other shows.Due to delays with its launch, ITV producers even had to tamper with the show's name after they'd originally called it The Real 2022 Games. But after hold-ups had hindered the Olympics and the celebrity version, chiefs decided to scrap the initial name. The Games will be hosted by This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby and Top Gear favourite and sportsman Freddie Flintoff.
