CORONATION Street's Bill Roache says the soap's older cast will not return to filming until autumn. The soap has resumed production after lockdown restrictions were eased but only the younger and less vulnerable actors are currently allowed on set.
Yet Bill, who plays the soap's longest-serving character Ken Barlow, hopes he will be back on our screens in time for the show's 60th anniversary later this year.
Roache, now 88, told The Mirror he will be back on set later in the year and despite his age, he does want to slow down. He said: "'I'm looking forward to it – I don't want to slow down.
I want to speed up! "They have started filming again, but not for us oldies. But probably by the autumn they have said we could be back.
