Coronation Street star Ian Bartholomew forced soap bosses cut the most `brutal’ scene from his coercive control storyline – fearing it was unsuitable for family viewing.
The actor – who plays manipulative monster Geoff Metcalfe – has revealed he refused to say some of the lines scriptwriters penned for his character because he felt they had gone "too far".His protest meant the scene had to be re-written.Ian, 66, has admitted his character’s treatment of his wife Yasmeen Nazir – played by his real life pal Shelley King – in the show has been so brutal his 12-year-old cannot bear to watch.He said his son "couldn’t quite get his head around" his shocking on-screen behaviour towards 64-year-old Shelley even though he knew his dad was only.
