Coronation Street star Ian Bartholomew says his character is such a brute his son cannot stand to watch.The actor's 12-year-old boy cannot understand why his father behaves so badly towards family pal Shelley King – who plays domestic abuse victim Yasmeen Nazir on TV.In real life, Ian, 66, and actress Shelley, 64, are great friends, but in Corrie, Yasmeen has been coercively controlled by manipulative Geoff Metcalfe – played by Ian.The actor said: "My son who is 12 has said, 'No dad, I can't watch you being horrible to our friend Shelley'."He's seen me doing loads of stuff, including Half A Sixpence in the West End and other plays in London."So he knows what I do, yet he just couldn't quite get his head around me wanting to play.
