Controversial housing plan on Ayrshire estate withdrawn ahead of crunch vote

Ayrshire estate has been withdrawn at the eleventh hour. Dozens of Kilmarnock residents objected to proposals to construct a home on a spare strip of land on the Southcraig estate.

One neighbour said blueprints aiming to construct a detached two-storey villa and double garage on Wallacetown Avenue would make traffic on an already congested street "horrific".Morag Kerr added that: "The grass area is used regularly by dog walkers and for other recreational purposes.

Wildlife also frequents the area."But hours before the unpopular housing plan was due to go before East Ayrshire Council's planning committee, the application was sensationally withdrawn by the applicant, Neil Hood.Mr Hood had planned to build a home on a currently unoccupied.
