Roy Hudd has died aged 83, his agent has confirmed. The comedian is believed to have passed away on Sunday afternoon, with fans taking to Twitter to pay tribute.
BBC reporter Lizo Mzimba tweeted: ‘Very sad news. Actor, comedian and presenter Roy Hudd died aged 83 on Sunday afternoon, his agent has confirmed #RIPRoyHudd.’ No other details surrounding his death are yet known.
Roy was best known for fronting The Roy Hudd Show in 1969 and working with screenwriter Dennis Potter in the 90s on shows such as Lipstick On Your Collar.
He had appeared in Coronation Street as Archie Shuttleworth, a local undertaker, who was the companion of Deidre’s mum Blanche in 2002.
