Chadwick Boseman would have wanted a Black Panther sequel to be made, according to director Ryan Coogler. The star of Marvel's 2018 superhero blockbuster tragically died at the age of 43 in August last year after a four-year private battle with colon cancer.
Ryan, who has also directed Fruitvale Station and Creed, had started writing the script for Black Panther 2 when the news of Chadwick's death broke.
Marvel has announced that the role of T'Challa, which was played by Chadwick, will not be recast. Production on the sequel is set to begin this summer and the film is expected to be released in July 2022.
