The New York Film Critics Circle has selected Kelly Reichardt's First Cow as its best picture of 2020. The group gave two awards to Eliza Hittman's Never Rarely Sometimes Always (best actress for star Sidney Flanigan and screenplay for Hittman) and Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods (best actor for Delroy Lindo and supporting actor for the late Chadwick Boseman).

The New York Film Critics Circle has unveiled its annual awards, honouring the late Chadwick Boseman with the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the Spike Lee-directed “Da 5 Bloods”.

One of the bigger critics groups gave out their citations today, with the New York Film Critics Circle announcing award winners for 2020. After doling out a Best Picture win last year for The Irishman, they went decidedly smaller this time around, citing First Cow with Picture.

The New York Film Critics Circle revealed their year-end honors and, surprise, Kelly Reichardt’s “First Cow” won Best Film. It was a year of female filmmakers being honored by the organization as Chloé Zhao won Best Director for “Nomadland,” Eliza Hittman earned a Best Screenplay honor for “Never Rarely Sometimes Always” and Radha Blank took Best First Film for “The 40-Year-Old Version.” The organization also honored Spike Lee with a special award for his short film “New York, New York” and “advocating for a better society through cinema.” Two of the stars of his Netflix film “Da 5 Bloods,” Delroy Lindo and Chadwick Boseman, won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.

Already, Delroy Lindo from Spike Lee’s Netflix movie Da 5 Bloods has won Best Actor.
