Journalist Piers Morgan has slammed the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards 2021 for “celebrating losers”. Piers argued that people should be more focused on “coming first” in his controversial tweet.
Addressing his 7.9 million Twitter followers, he wrote: “The #SPOTY Team of the Year award going to a team that didn’t win anything perfectly epitomises the absurd new fad of celebrating sporting losers. “There’s more kudos/silverware to be had in failing or quitting than actually coming first.”When the England team were given the award, their manager Gareth Southgate came up to speak about the players, who came incredibly close to winning the Euros this year.
