A hardworking mum was left gutted after the Ford Fiesta she bought for her birthday was stolen from in front of the family home.
The Balsall Heath mum, who works as a tailor, was sleeping upstairs when her prized 65 plate Fiesta was pinched, reports Birmingham Live.West Midlands Police have launched a probe after the vehicle was stolen from Edgbaston Road East late on Friday night, January 5.CCTV footage shared by the family shows a man entering the vehicle via the boot, and after a few minutes, hitting the kerb before speeding off.
The mum's son, who wished to stay anonymous, said the family had already taken precautions to prevent theft, including storing the car keys in a signal-blocking Faraday pouch. However, these moves didn't prevent the thief from getting into the car via the boot - and now they want to warn others to be vigilant. The son, a lifelong Balsall Heath resident, said: "I had a look out the window and the car wasn't there, we played back the CCTV and we noticed the car had gone, we called the police, there's no sign of the car or anything."He said: "She uses it to get about and do her daily business, not only that she's gone really upset and quiet, she's been upset by it.
Mum bought it for her birthday present last year, it hasn't even been a year, and it's been pinched outside."CCTV footage captured the man kneeling down by the driver's side of the car, when the brake lights came on.
